INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS
Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be
in triplicate and should not have been published or offered for
publication elsewhere. All manuscripts should be written in English.
Manuscripts should be sent to the Managing Editor,
nigerian Journal of Science and Environment (NJSE), Faculty of Science,
Delta State University, P.M.B. 1, Abraka, Nigeria.

Authors are required to adhere strictly to the
instructions given here for the preparation of manuscripts.
Types of cntributions
Original research papers; review articles;
technical notes; book review; reports of conferences and meetings; short
communications; letters to the Editor.
Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts should be in double-spaced typing on A4
paper with a wide margin to the left hand side. the title page should
contain the title, author(s) name(s) and affiliation(s), including a
complete address for correspondence and proofs. Each manuscript should
be provided with an abstract of not more than 200 words. The abstract
should be followed by the introduction, Materials and methods, Results,
Discussion and Acknowledgements. in general, spelling conventions as
found in the Oxford dictionary of English should be followed: e.g.
Colour (not color).
The SI unit should be used for all scientific and
laboratory data; if in certain instances, it is necessary to quote other
units, these should be added in parentheses, temperatures should be
given in degree Celsius.
The Abbreviations for units should follow the
suggestions of the British Standard publication BS 1991. There is no
need to use full stops to mark abbreviations, e.g M(not M.) ppm(not
p.p.m)
Content recognized (IUPAC) chemical nomenclature
should be used, although commonly accepted trivial names may be used
where there is ambiguity.
Tables (numbered consecutively with Arabic
numerals), references and legend to illustrations should be typed on
separate sheets and placed at the end of the paper.
Footnotes should be avoided as far as possible if
they contain information which could equally well be included in the
text.
References
For references to publish works, the Harvard system
should be adopted i.e name of author(s) and date of publications should
appear in the text e.g oputa or Ackman et al. (1967). Unpublished date
or private communications should not appear in the reference list.

Illustrations
line drawings should be provided in microsoft word.
Diagrams and graphds should generally be of such size that, after linear
reduction to one-half or one-third, they should be legible.
Photographs must be of good quality and should be
sharp black and white prints. Each illustration must be clearly numbered
and name(s) of the author(s) of the manuscript written on the reverse
side.
Handling Charges
Authors are expected to send each manuscript along
with a bank draft of one thousand naira or one hundred U. S dollars to
cover handling charges. |
