ABSTRACT
Concentrations of Fe, Pb, Cr, Cd,
Zn, Mn, Cu and Ni in bottom sediment of miller creek, in the Niger Delta
was evaluated after acid digestion by atomic absorption
spectrophototetry. The concentration of the metals ranged from 33.4 to
48.4mgkg-1 Fe; o.24 to 1.78mgkg-1 Pb; 0.78-10.9mgkg-1
Cr; 0.04-1. 18mgkg-1 Cd; 1.99-3.50mgkg-1
Zn; 0.93-6.09mgkg-1 Mn; 0.31mgkg-1 Cu and
0.07-0.61mgkg-1 Ni. The concentrations of the examined metals
were below the Department of petroleum resource target values for metals
in soils and sediments excepts for cadmium.
