ABSTRACT
Two field trials were conducted
during the 2006 and 2007 wet seasons at he Teaching and Research Farm
of Delta State University, Asaba Campus, Asaba to study the effect of
pelleted and unpelleted poultry droppings on some growth parameters and
yield of tomato. The treatment consists of poultry droppings pelleted
and unpelleted at 0.5 and 10t/ha poultry droppings and monitored for
some growth parameters and fruit yield. The result showed that tomato
plants in soils pelleted with 10t/ha of poultry manure had higher
(p<0.05) LAI, NAR and other growth parameters and fruit yield of
20.1t/ha than in any other treatment of pelleted poultry droppings.
Fruit yield was in the order of 10t/ha pellet >10t/ha unpelleted > 5t/ha
pelleted > 5t/ha pelleted > 5t/ha unpelled > control.
